Sometimes I sit back and reflect on the direction my life has taken, and it really amazes me. In high school, birth was far from my mind. It wasn’t until I had experienced the birth of my own children that I started understanding the impact that birth can have on a woman, and how I wanted to be a part of that for others. Now, I am starting a new course in teaching and training, and I find it just as exciting. So as I start this new year, I make a toast to all my students and fellow doulas out there. Here’s to a new year full of wonderful tears and laughs and joys.
Rachel has worked as a register nurse (BSN from University of Utah) since 2004 with a work history in Labor and Delivery, NICU and Postpartum Care. She is also the founder of New Beginnings Doula Training which she organized in 2011. When she's not busy being a mother and grandmother, she can be found reading research papers related to some aspect of childbirth.
