Final Course Rate Increase on July 1, 2013

(Editor’s Note: “Final” wasn’t the best use of words in this blog title. The time has come for New Beginnings Doula Training to increase rates to a reasonable rate to provide the professional-level of training. Please read the May 31st, 2016 announcement for full details.)

One of the more enjoyable questions that we hear quite frequently goes something like this recent inquiry: “I think it is amazing that you are offering it at such an affordable price – there’s no catch right??”

The catch has been, up to this point, that the program was being run by a small husband and wife team out of their home with virtually no overhead cost and making the course available completely online. The course has been, and continues to be developed and improved though the help of the more than 150 students who have signed up for the course since we first started out, just a year and half ago. My wife’s philosophy has been “build as you go.” As such, we’ve been developing the course as we’ve gone along, and charging our students only a fraction of what other courses charge, for what we feel is a more comprehensive approach to preparing a doula for childbirth support.

Well, the program has grown, and with it has come the need to increase the cost of the course to compensate for the time commitments on our end to administer the course. However, with the goal of wanting to remain affordable so that more women can be trained as doulas, we will remain very competitively priced, at still a fraction of what most other programs charge.

This increase in the core cost of the program will afford us the time to polish the course materials even further, adding much needed audio/visual support resources to the course. We are also currently working to create an improved registration process that will allow access to content immediately upon registration. This same process will also give students the option to connect online within the website for forum discussions and collaboration on assignments.

(Editor’s Note: The rates below have been updated. Please see May 31st, 2016 announcement.)

Below is a summary of rate changes:

  • Full Course Registration – $200/one time fee.
  • Monthly Registration (Manual Billing) – $20/per month for 12 months*
  • Monthly Registration (AutoPay Billing) – $18/per month for 12 months*

In the meantime, these final course rate increases will not go into effect until July 1st, 2013. New students who sign up before then will be locked in at the current lower rates when the new rates take effect. We do not plan to increase the core cost of the program further anytime within the near future.

*With the monthly payment packages, students have the option to finish the course before they finish their billing period, in which case the remaining months are waived upon completion of the course. With this option, students that are motivated to complete the course can do so for significantly less than even the full course registration price.
