Our commitment to the Professional Doula

Download Doula Statement of Professionalism (pdf)

A month ago, I came out with a statement on the Professionalism of Doula Education and Care.  Written to offer an industry standard for the professional doula, it is also meant it to be as inclusive as possible.  Therefore, it allows for the different training certifications and self-taught methods available to become a professional doula.

For those interested in upholding these professional standards, I challenge you to commit yourself to the standards listed.  As long as you do not change the wording, and you include the copyright,  you may  download, print, share, or post these standards wherever you wish.  My goal is to help push the doula profession forward and to include as many tracks to becoming a professional doula as possible.

This is my company’s commitment to you:

  • New Beginnings commits to educating the doula professional with “integrity and morality, altruism and the promotion of the public good,”.
  • New Beginnings will do their best to work in a framework of collaboration with other doulas businesses or organizations.
  • New Beginnings commits to providing quality work and dedicate ourselves to the doula profession and our students.
  • New Beginnings commits to adding to the doula professions current body of knowledge and helping our students and other doulas to further their own education.

Thank-you to my students, alumni, and all doulas out there who do their best to serve their communities and clients.
